Peter Young is a Winnipeg based Sports Management Consultant and internationally known broadcaster and producer. He has served as Director of the Arizona Winter League in Yuma, Arizona where, over 220 players were instructed by ex-MLB stars, broken into 10 teams and each team playing a 30 game schedule in four weeks time.
He was president and GM of the Yuma Scorpions and Tijuana Cimeronnes in the Golden Baseball League and prior to that was president and COO of the Calgary Vipers for three years in the Northern League and two seasons in the GBL. He spearheaded the GBL expansion to Calgary, Edmonton, and Victoria and rewrote the league bylaws to accommodate those teams. He also represented Calgary on the Northern League Board of Governors for three years.
In 1993-94 he worked as a producer for the Toronto Blue Jays productions when the Jays won their second World Series. In Hockey, he was Director of Hockey Operations of the World Hockey Association and a Co-Founder and former President, Hockey Operations of the WHA2. In the Atlantic Coast League, he was the director of operations of the Orlando Seals, Jacksonville Barracudas, and Miami Manatees. In each of these ventures, he also handled all corporate communications, media and public relations.
For one season he was president of the ABA’s Tampa Bay ThunderDawgs with legendary coach Darryl Dawkins.
He is also a member of the Canadian Olympic Academy.
For two decades he acted as a broadcaster for CTV Network covering events across Canada and the United States as well as in Russia, Czechoslovakia, Switzerland, Sweden, Austria, and the United Kingdom. He has been a broadcaster or producer in the National Hockey League, Canadian Football League, and Olympic Games and has produced shows for ESPN, TSN, and NBC Sports Channel. He recently completed two documentaries in Los Angeles produced by legendary Hollywood producer Dr. Elliott Haimoff.
